Well today was a beautiful day in Ohio. The Sun was high and not to hot,So my son and I put on our old tennis shoes and a pair of shorts and headed for the creek. We are fortunite enough to have one running close to our house so today I decided to teach him some of the things that I was taught as a child growing up. He is a natural when it comes to the great outdoors, I guess it is sometimes true when they say the nut doesn't fall far from the tree and I mean this in the nicest of ways. Today he got to catch a crawdad for the first time on his own with his hands. He waded in the water without fear, you know the youth fearlessness that we once had as an innocent child! I showed him how to trail a mussle in the sand to find the mussle. Most children never get to see one alive just the end result, split and or dead. I am not to sure who enjoyed it the most he or I. One thing is for sure this is the first of many more wonderful days ahead that we will grow together as father and son, teacher and student. To all of the fathers out there turn off your computer, kick off your shoes and take your children wading. The days of teaching start at home.
